Pioneer Woman Million Dollar Dip - recipe card

This creamy, decadent dip layers rich sour cream and cream cheese with sharp cheddar, crunchy toasted almonds, and savory green onions. Finished with a generous sprinkle of crispy turkey bacon, it delivers a luxurious texture and bold flavor that rivals any classic party dip.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup sliced almonds, toasted
  • 1/2 cup green onions, thinly sliced (white and light green parts)
  • 6 slices turkey bacon (not pork/pig/bacon)
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, freshly ground

Instructions

  1. Place the cream cheese in a large mixing bowl and let it sit at room temperature for 20-30 minutes until fully softened. Softened cream cheese ensures a smooth, lump-free base when blended.
  2. Add the sour cream and mayonnaise to the softened cream cheese. Using a rubber spatula or hand mixer on low speed, mix until completely smooth and homogenous, about 1-2 minutes, scraping down the sides as needed.
  3. Add the shredded sharp cheddar cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne (if using), kosher salt, and black pepper. Fold gently with a spatula until the cheese is evenly distributed and no dry streaks remain.
  4. Toast the sliced almonds in a dry skillet over medium heat, stirring constantly, until fragrant and lightly golden, about 3-4 minutes. Immediately transfer to a plate to cool; toasting deepens their nutty flavor and adds crunch.
  5. Place the turkey bacon slices in a cold nonstick skillet. Set the heat to medium and cook, flipping once, until crisp, about 6-8 minutes total. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain and cool completely.
  6. Once the turkey bacon is cool, crumble or finely chop it into small bits. Set aside 2 tablespoons for garnish.
  7. Fold the toasted almonds and the remaining crumbled turkey bacon into the cream cheese mixture along with the sliced green onions. Reserve a small handful of green onions for garnish.
  8. Transfer the dip to a serving bowl or shallow platter. Smooth the top with a spatula, then sprinkle evenly with the reserved turkey bacon bits and green onions.
  9. Cover the dip tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving. Chilling allows the flavors to meld and the dip to firm up for easier scooping.
  10. Serve with sturdy crackers, crostini, or fresh vegetable crudites. The dip can be prepared up to 24 hours in advance and stored in the refrigerator.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. This dip does not freeze well due to the dairy base. If making ahead, prepare the dip completely but add the almond and bacon garnish just before serving to maintain crunch. To re-crisp leftover turkey bacon, reheat in a 350°F / 177°C oven for 3-5 minutes.
