Pioneer Woman Bourbon Balls

Pioneer Woman Bourbon Balls

Bourbon balls originated in Kentucky in the 1930s and quickly became a Southern staple. Traditionally made with bourbon-soaked pecans and chocolate, these small candies highlight the state’s iconic spirit. The Pioneer Woman’s take is simple, requiring no baking and just a few pantry ingredients. They’re sweet, slightly boozy, and perfect for gifting or sharing at celebrations.

Ingredients

  • Vanilla wafer cookies (2 cups, finely crushed)

  • Pecans (1 cup, finely chopped)

  • Cocoa powder (¼ cup, unsweetened)

  • Powdered sugar (1 cup, plus more for rolling)

  • Bourbon (½ cup)

  • Corn syrup (3 tbsp)

  • Vanilla extract (1 tsp)

Instructions

Step 1: Crush the base

In a food processor, finely crush vanilla wafers. Transfer to a mixing bowl and add chopped pecans, cocoa powder, and 1 cup powdered sugar. Stir to combine.

Step 2: Add liquid ingredients

In a small bowl, whisk together bourbon, corn syrup, and vanilla extract. Pour into the dry mixture and stir until well combined.

Step 3: Form the balls

Scoop small portions (about 1 tablespoon each) and roll into smooth balls. Place on a parchment-lined tray.

Step 4: Coat in sugar

Roll each ball in powdered sugar until coated. For extra flavor, you can also coat it in cocoa powder or finely ground pecans.

Step 5: Chill and serve

Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving to let flavors meld.
