Hawaiian Roast Beef Sliders - recipe card

Tender roast beef piled onto soft sweet Hawaiian rolls, topped with melted provolone and a savory-sweet garlic butter glaze. These sliders are juicy, flavorful, and perfect for a family meal or game-day snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 12 Hawaiian sweet rolls (e.g., King’s Hawaiian)
  • 1 pound deli roast beef, thinly sliced
  • 6 slices provolone cheese, halved
  • 1/2 cup pineapple preserves
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F / 190°C. Line a 9×13-inch baking dish with parchment paper or lightly grease it with nonstick spray.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. Slice the entire block of Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally, keeping the tops and bottoms intact. Place the bottom half in the prepared baking dish.
  4. Evenly layer the roast beef slices over the bottom half, folding to fit and ensuring full coverage.
  5. Top the beef with halved provolone slices, overlapping slightly to cover the meat evenly.
  6. In another small bowl, combine pineapple preserves, soy sauce, and grated ginger. Microwave for 20 seconds or until spreadable, then stir.
  7. Spread the pineapple mixture over the cheese layer using an offset spatula.
  8. Place the top half of the rolls over the filling, pressing gently to adhere.
  9. Brush the entire top and sides of the rolls with the butter mixture, using all of it to ensure even coverage.
  10. Bake uncovered for 15–18 minutes, until the tops are golden brown and the cheese is fully melted and bubbly. Rotate the dish halfway through for even browning.
  11. Remove from the oven and let rest for 5 minutes. This allows the cheese to set slightly and makes for cleaner slicing.
  12. Sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds, then slice into 12 individual sliders using a sharp knife. Serve warm.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. To freeze, wrap individual sliders in plastic wrap and place in a freezer-safe bag for up to 1 month. Reheat refrigerated sliders in a 350°F / 175°C oven for 8–10 minutes or microwave for 30–40 seconds until heated through; for frozen, thaw overnight in the fridge before reheating.
